Editorial policy
Who makes these pages, how, and what checks they go through before they are published.

Desks, not invented people
Pages are published under two shared bylines, the Small Business Desk and the Everyday Money Desk. A desk is a byline, not a person, and its page says so. We do not invent writers, photos or credentials.
How pages are made
Research and first drafts are produced with AI assistance, working from providers’ own published documents and official sources such as the IRS, HMRC, the FDIC, the FCA and the FSCS. A person then checks every figure against its source, checks the regulatory line for each provider, and edits the page before it is published.
Build checks enforce part of this automatically. A page cannot be published if it is missing a dated source for its figures, if it uses wording that tells readers what to buy or open, or if it uses stock marketing phrases.
Expert review
Pages on money topics should be reviewed by someone qualified to spot what a careful generalist might miss. We are arranging named review by credentialed reviewers: a CPA, EA or CFP for US pages, and a chartered accountant or chartered financial planner for UK pages.
Until a page has had that review, it says “Editorial check only” beside the byline. When a reviewer signs off, the page shows their name and the date, and the reviewer is listed here with their credentials.
Independence
The order of every list comes from the method on the How we rank page. Commercial relationships, if any exist, never change that order and are disclosed on the page they affect. Providers do not see pages before publication.
Language
We explain costs, rules and trade-offs. We do not tell readers what to choose, promise outcomes such as a better credit score, or predict rates and returns.
